Apart Tronador

On the night of August 14th-15th, I arrived at the apartment I'd been assigned and found someone already staying there. The apartments are new, with no receptionist, and they send codes for the door and the keys. After we knocked, we were told there was another apartment, but the owner had put us in the one we had booked. Her phone was off, and she didn't reply to our messages. We ended up with nowhere to sleep and had to find another place at 9:30 PM. I've never had anything like this happen while traveling. Being left without accommodation and no warning is dangerous. There are plenty of places in Puerto Varas, including more economical ones. I'd look elsewhere, somewhere with good communication with the owner and reliable guarantees.

The heating worked, the lighting was good, and the space was laid out well for an overnight stay. It had everything I needed, including basic kitchen items, a kettle, microwave, and refrigerator. My sleep was difficult, though, because the streetlights shone into the apartment at night.

The location is the only good thing I can say about it. Nobody greets you, the photos are outdated, and the place is run down and needs maintenance. Water from the shower literally falls onto the car parked beneath the apartment. I don't recommend it and wouldn't return. There are plenty of nicer options that are better located and cheaper. I didn't even feel like taking photos.

The room was tiny, uncomfortable, and awful in every way. On May 11, 2018, we arrived to a short circuit, apparently because everything was plugged into a flimsy extension cord that tripped with just two devices connected. The shower's electric tank heater sat in a cramped room with exposed wires and precarious connections. When a woman finally came after we repeatedly asked someone to take responsibility, she blamed me for the short circuit and never owned up to the poor wiring. It was raining hard and cold. There was no heating or working TV, and nobody took responsibility. They only replied on WhatsApp. They moved us to another room in the downpour and left us alone, and the TV there didn't work either. The photos are misleading; the place wasn't as shown. We lost the whole day, then went looking for somewhere decent late in the afternoon. They had to refund the money they require upfront for booking. The parking was ridiculous too: no large car fits in the lot, so cars have to be left on the street. There's nothing nearby, and the town center is miles away. The person meant to run the place was nowhere around, except to greet a white cat that wanders into rooms and leaves fur everywhere. The kitchen was just a basic camping stove, with no real convenience for cooking, not even plastic placemats or a cheap tablecloth. It's cold, ugly, and has zero friendliness. The staff don't know how to treat customers. A truly terrible experience, extremely expensive for what you get. Everything feels fake and low quality, and it's freezing, with no decent bedding or extra blankets. The worst I've seen in Puerto Varas. There are a thousand good places there that cost less. 100% not recommended.
