Hotel Tierra del Fuego

This hotel has loads of charm and is well maintained, even if it's a bit old. The service was excellent and attentive, and I really loved staying here. For breakfast, take the eight minute walk to Wake Up Cafe. You'll love it.

The staff went out of their way to help with my trip. They pointed me to places, shared restaurant recommendations, and even called around on the national holiday to check what was open. The only thing I missed in the room was a hot water kettle and coffee maker. They were happy to bring hot water whenever I asked, though it was a hassle to get ready and go downstairs for tea. The place felt like a room from the early 1900’s, and I loved that nostalgic feel. It's perfectly placed for walking to centro, restaurants, shops, and things to do, with the waterfront a short walk away. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It was an excellent stay, and I highly recommend it.

The hotel's right in central Punta Arenas, and both bus companies, Bus Sur and Buses Fernandez, are less than a five minute walk away. We booked through booking.com and paid $165 for two nights, much less than the usual price of $180 per night for a twin room. Breakfast was included, with toast and, one morning, a croissant. It was good, but nothing special. The room was spacious, and the staff were friendly. There's a lot of carpet around the hotel. For what we paid, I expected better cleaning. The bathroom bin hadn't been emptied, and there was black hair on the mattress cover. I had trouble understanding the person checking us in because he spoke super fast, even though I speak Spanish. I also asked for a city map, but they didn't have one, so we got one later from the tourism office.

They took me in on short notice after my original hotel canceled, and it worked out well as a convenient place to stay while I was working. My room was clean and serviced every day. Breakfast and coffee are included. It's simple rather than fancy, but makes mornings easy. The staff were helpful and friendly, and everyone at reception spoke English well. A nice hotel for a good price, I'd recommend it.
