Altura Suites

We could cook and eat in the kitchen, and there’s a food shop downstairs, which made getting groceries easy. The hotel is centrally located in San Diego with convenient transport, and the staff were very welcoming. Jose was especially kind and helped us a lot. Special thanks to him 🙏🙏🙏

The only real plus was the convenient location. We stayed in loft apartment 1401a, which faces west and has large windows. In summer it gets unbearably hot, with no air conditioning. It felt like it was over 40C, and sleeping was very difficult. The sofa bed was old, hard, poor quality, and had a deep groove down the middle, even though the loft was listed for three adults. We couldn't switch rooms, so we left at midnight and moved to the hotel across the road. Reception and check-in were chaotic. Our booking confirmation included breakfast, but staff said it didn't. They weren't very helpful, and didn't even know where the laundry was. I'd give it zero stars if I could.

With protests happening in the city, we had to cancel our stay. The hotel never replied or sent updates about safety in the area, yet still charged us a cancellation fee for something outside our control.

Because of COVID-19, my vacation days were canceled along with my flight to Chile, so I asked for a refund for my booking at Altura Suites. Instead, they offered only to postpone the stay with a 30% penalty. I have no idea when I might be able to fly to Chile. This is an exceptional situation for everyone, and that response is absurd and unacceptable. When potential clients are treated this way, I can't wish the business luck in the future.
