Hotel España was a lovely surprise. I was concerned after reading some negative reviews, but my January 2019 stay went really well. My room was always clean, the staff consistently friendly, and I never found myself needing anything. Breakfast isn't included, though it's plentiful and very affordable. The location is strategic, just two blocks from the two main subway lines. My room even had amenities that weren't mentioned when I booked. I highly recommend it.

We were a couple traveling without kids and spent the whole day out, so the small, older rooms worked fine for our six-day stay as long as you're not too demanding. The location is fantastic, with a small shopping center nearby and breakfast options there, since the hotel doesn't serve breakfast. I wouldn't recommend it for children because the rooms are small and not very clean, though it didn't disturb our sleep. We had to keep asking at reception to have the room cleaned after leaving the key. Our curtain rod was crooked, but it held the curtain up until the end.
