For the price, especially compared with North American rates, this is a real bargain. The hotel is a short walk from two metro stations, and a longer walk gets you to downtown sights, offices and shopping. Even so, the block itself is quiet and felt safe, unlike some similarly priced places in noisier, sketchier parts of Santiago. The beds were incredibly comfortable, though the rooms are on the small side and our shower was a bit wonky. There's a small table and chairs in the room. Breakfast was delicious but the choices were a little limited. I missed quesillo, bananas, and vanilla or plain yogurt. Downstairs there's also a compact speakeasy-style bar, though it's quite pricey. The front desk staff were super friendly and often remembered us. The Japan-themed decor was a subtle touch in the public areas, not overdone.

Breakfast was okay, but repetitive, with mostly basic items and little change from day to day. The rooms were clean, though some renovation and better soundproofing would help. The area felt safe, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It's conveniently placed near the metro and main attractions, so it works well for a very short stay in Santiago.

I've stayed at Nippon hotel three times. It's good value, not a luxury place, but it has what you need for a pleasant stay. Close to the metro, too, while still in a quiet area.

Awful experience. At checkout, my wife and I were made to pay for the towels she used because they had tiny makeup marks on them. It was humiliating. When we asked for the towels we'd paid for, they kept us waiting about half an hour. At home I washed them, and the makeup came out easily without even using soap. These people seem ambitious and have no respect for customers. Don't risk having your trip ruined.

It's a small hotel with a light complimentary breakfast. The staff are extremely nice and quick to help, and the front desk people speak at least some English, which is useful for tourists. Rooms are modest, but the bathrooms are great.
