I’ve travelled in many countries, including Sri Lanka and China, and I’ve never been charged extra for coffee in the room. Here, they wanted 2 USD for each extra coffee pod, which seems excessive. My husband and I are extremely disappointed and upset, and we won’t return. We paid $160 AUD per night for a three-night stay at NH in Santiago. I’d researched it as a 4 star hotel and expected the amenities to be replenished. When I politely asked reception for more coffee pods, the woman said each one cost 2 USD. She said that applied to all guests, and that we were only allowed one coffee per person per room per booking. If we’d known, we might as well have booked one night at a time instead of three. We put the room service sign out at 8:30 in the morning. When we returned at noon or later, the room hadn’t been serviced, and the card had been changed to “do not disturb.” I called and asked them to at least replace our bath towels, and they did that without an issue. But when I later went to ask for more coffee, they repeated the charge. They didn’t seem to care that we wanted coffee outside breakfast hours, which is a normal thing for tourists to want before early tours. We chose a 4 star hotel because we wanted to be comfortable. On the first day, the heater wasn’t working properly, so we had to call someone to check it. The coffee restriction was very disappointing. They didn’t ask for extra money when I requested towels, but charged for each additional pod. I’m not exaggerating, just very disappointed.

The AC wouldn’t heat the room, but staff brought us extra blankets, which was nice. The hotel is in a great spot, very close to shops and public transport. The staff were amazing, attentive, and helpful, and they made our stay really good. We’re definitely planning to come back.

Our short visit to Santiago was disrupted because the room wasn’t ready at check-in. No one apologized or could tell us when it would be ready, so we had to wait in the lobby and keep checking. The staff didn’t seem to care about the effect this had on our plans. We paid a premium to stay with this chain and were treated without any care. Never again with NH.

We were in room 209. The cooler didn’t work, the bathroom door wouldn’t lock, and room service hadn’t cleaned the room fully. I reported the problems to reception, but nothing was fixed. Breakfast cost about $15 USD and was reasonably good.

I was in Santiago briefly for work, so I didn’t get to see much of the city, but my stay at the hotel was great. It’s easy to reach from the airport, with plenty of places to eat nearby, and close to Cierro San Cristobal, where you get an amazing view of Santiago. The hotel clerks were helpful and cheerful. I recommend it.
