Hotel Plaza El Bosque Ebro

The location is a real strength. It’s in a quiet, safe neighborhood surrounded by residential buildings with security. There are several restaurants and grocery stores nearby, and Cenco Costanera tower and mall are a 10-minute walk away. The metro station is about five minutes on foot. The breakfast room on the 17th floor is lovely, with indoor and outdoor seating and great views of the high-rises and the Andes in the distance. The pool room is also pleasant. The hotel has potential, but based on our stay I wouldn’t recommend it. Don’t book expecting five-star service. We cancelled another hotel in Las Condes thinking this one would be better, and were disappointed. It felt more like a three-star experience. The room was dated and needed renovation, from the old entrance door and furniture to the very soft beds. Water was provided only when we arrived and never replenished. There was a kettle but no coffee or tea, and the kitchen drawer cutlery looked like it was from the 1970s. The room was cleaned only twice over four days, and only after we mentioned it at reception when returning at 6 PM. The key malfunctioned every day, sometimes twice in one day, so we had to go down to reception for a replacement. Breakfast was very ordinary, the same each day, more like what you’d get at a three-star hotel. There was no egg station, just pre-made omelettes in a bowl. They charged $5 per person for a lunch box when tours started before breakfast, which felt greedy and unacceptable. The pool has a great view from the top floor, but it’s tiny, more like a large hot tub. It’s supposed to open at 9 AM, but the doors weren’t locked, so I went around 7 each morning and had it to myself for a relaxing swim. In the afternoon it was packed, and there was hardly room to get in. The pool towels were all gone in the afternoon. I called reception a few times to ask for more, but no one brought them. There are only 10-15 sunbeds for a 17-floor hotel, and the furniture around the pool was in a decaying state, as shown in the pictures. The lobby is too small for a hotel of this size. The welcome drink at this supposed five-star hotel was plain water from a fountain by reception. No one offered to help carry our luggage to the room.
