Tempo Nogales

After coming from the bus terminal, the neighborhood around the hotel felt like a different world. The room was spacious and comfortable enough that I wanted to stay another night. It had a kitchen, hand shower, and bathtub. Breakfast had fluffy scrambled eggs and a wide selection of ham.

The beds were comfortable, the Wi-Fi was good when it worked, and breakfast was reasonable. The hotel’s location is excellent, really the only thing that was extremely good. The rooms need renovation: the walls had stained paint, and I had to fix the toilet flush myself because it wouldn’t stop running. The bathroom ceiling looked like it might fall in. There was no chair or sofa in the room, and the TV had no antenna, so it couldn’t tune local channels. The Wi-Fi kept freezing. At checkout I was charged for a Coca-Cola I hadn’t consumed. When I disputed it, the receptionist told me to go back upstairs and speak to the person inspecting the room. That person was extremely rude, opening and shutting cupboards while speaking loudly, which was very embarrassing. After I insisted I hadn’t had a Coke, they refunded my $50 deposit.

The breakfast buffet was excellent, and the place was pleasant, quiet, and great overall. The only hiccup was the TV, which had no signal. I couldn't tell whether it was a connection problem or something else.

We really enjoyed this simple but comfortable hotel. The staff handled the problems we ran into calmly, and since we didn't use anything, they returned our deposit without any trouble. The location in Providência is great, and we were welcomed warmly, though they did ask for a deposit in case we charged anything to the room. Our room had a wonderful view of the Cordillera, with Sky Costaneira off to the side. The rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable. The hotel is old and could use renovations, but that didn't take away from our stay. Breakfast was simple, tasty, and more than enough for us. The shower was very good, with water that went from cold to very hot. I did find the bathtub awkward, since you have to climb into it to shower. We stayed this July, and booking had made me nervous because of the reviews, but the hotel suited us perfectly.
