Top Apart

The location is very good, and the breakfast lady was the only bright spot. The breakfast itself was repetitive, had little variety, and even the coffee was instant. It's listed as Gran Apart, but there are only a little more than 10 apartments in the building; the rest aren't theirs. Even the building's reception staff, who aren't theirs, don't speak well of them, especially about their informality. The breakfast schedule says 7 a.m., but on Saturday and Sunday they change it to 8:30 a.m. and are late opening. There are many apartments in the area, so it's worth looking at others. The apartment seemed reasonable at first, but it had serious problems. The hot water was scarce because the water heater was badly mixed, and they admitted there was a problem that also affected other apartments, but did nothing for a week. The sink wouldn't drain continuously, the bedroom air conditioning didn't work, and they did nothing after we reported it. The double-bed mattress was terrible and sagged in the middle. We also got off to a bad start over payment. They wanted to charge an extra 5% for paying by credit card, even though the reservation said card payment and all bills included. They didn't care, saying nobody complains. Then they told us to go to the bank to withdraw cash. I said I couldn't, and they agreed to charge in Chilean pesos, but to convert the reservation dollars at the exchange rate from the day I booked. The rate was quite a bit higher at the time, though I didn't know by how much, so after the bank converted it, they charged more dollars to my card. I said I'd complain to the person I booked with, which I'm doing now, and they didn't care about that either.
