Hotel Rocas de Santo Domingo

The man who prepares breakfast was kind, and so was the woman who cleaned our room. At this price, though, the hotel needs an update: the decor should change, and the hot tub should either work or be removed. Breakfast could be better with cereal, real coffee, and real juice. The cost is too high for the condition of the place.

Pedro was a great host, and the staff looked after us really well. The breakfast was very complete, too. It’s a lovely spot for switching off for the weekend, with time seeming to stand still. The beach is about a 15-minute walk away, and it’s pet-friendly. They even have two dogs who greet guests.

The breakfast was good, though the bread basket was more than we needed. The rooms feel dated, the window in mine was hard to open, and the TV was small. We also had a problem with a lot of dogs coming into the dining room and making a disturbance. I told the manager, who said the hotel is “pet-friendly,” but there’s no supervision, no rules, and nowhere set aside for the animals. A pet-friendly place should have rules and designated pet areas, and keep dogs out of the dining room, for hygiene and for guests without pets. Here, “pet-friendly” is just a name. On our departure day, stray dogs came into the hotel at night and knocked over the trash cans. We reported it, but the hotel didn’t respond right away. It needs renovations to justify its prices.

A wonderful place to unwind, with very, very good service. Definitely recommended, 200%!
