Hotel Naguilan

The staff were generally helpful, and housekeeping was amazing. Our rooms were spotless. Still, I wouldn’t stay here. The hotel’s 8+ Booking.com score is extremely misleading, and it’s far too expensive for what you get. Our room was basic and uncomfortably hot, like an oven, with no A/C or even a ceiling fan to move the air. Breakfast was limited and underwhelming, with awkward seating beside reception. Vacuuming each morning added to the ambiance, and the 30-minute breakfast slot before the next seating made it feel rushed and uncomfortable. The restaurant was a disgrace. The food was frozen or precooked and reheated, with nothing fresh. Staff actually suggested we eat elsewhere, and the restaurant was completely empty day and night, which reflected the poor quality. The location was poor too, with no nearby places to eat and too far from the main areas for an easy walk to lunch or dinner. The bus stop outside did help with getting into town. Many areas inside and outside look tired and need maintenance and a refresh. Management seemed lazy and uninterested in customers. If you’re going to Valdivia, pick another hotel.

We booked the premium suite through Booking, but the room we got was laid out differently and had no table or sofa. The receptionist called the manager, who basically said there was nothing they could do because the photos on Booking hadn’t been updated in three years. Unbelievable. They gave us no options, no discount, not even a complimentary drink. It felt like “take it or leave it.” If they don’t care about this, I can believe they don’t care about anything to do with customers. I don’t advise staying here.

Clean rooms, great food, affordable prices, and great customer service. It’s close to the Valdivia pier and market. Highly recommend this hotel.

The rooms have lovely views and a classic, minimal look, with thoughtfully chosen furniture and furnishings. In a privileged spot by the river, this beautiful hotel is well run, and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. A lovely place for couples or families.
