Nómada Eco Hostel

I really enjoyed my stay at Nomada Eco Hostel and would happily return. It’s a lovely old house with lots of artistic details, and the owner and team made me feel at home right away. The location worked well for getting around on foot: the bus terminal is about a 15-minute walk, supermarkets are 5 minutes away, and the main sights are close. There’s a newly opened café inside with great coffee and desserts, especially the cheesecake. It’s a nice spot for breakfast or to relax after a day walking around Valparaíso. They also rent bikes, handy for exploring the coastline.

I was upset by how staff handled my belongings and privacy. They moved my things to another room without asking, touched my personal items, and even opened zippers to put things inside my backpack. Their explanation was that they thought it was the best choice because a large group needed the eight-bed room. The staff seemed nice and apologetic, but also apathetic. The room door didn’t lock, and the lockers were too small for a backpack. I wouldn’t stay here again.

The beds were very comfortable, and the shower uses solar energy but still stays hot without running out. Staff were welcoming and helpful, invited me on excursions, and looked after me when I got sick. A lovely stay all around.

The volunteers are what make Nomada such a great place. They’re friendly, always ready to help, and made me feel really welcome. I spent three days in Valpo, and found the hostel spacious, with huge dorms, excellent cleanliness, a great terrace, and a really good breakfast. Best place to stay in Valpo!
