For a few nights in Valparaiso, this family-run hotel is a good budget option. The rooms are spacious and comfortable; it's clearly an old building, but well maintained. The shower had strong, steady hot water, and the Wi-Fi was fast and reliable. The owner and family were lovely and helpful, and WhatsApp communication went smoothly. It's up the Bellavista hill. To reach touristy Cerro Alegre, we walked down the stairs, around the cemetery-mountain, then uphill again, about 15-20 minutes. Plaza Victoria is also around a 15-minute walk away. The neighborhood generally felt very safe. The addicts on the stairs, especially at night, made us a little uncomfortable, though we didn't feel unsafe. An Uber for a few bucks is an easy way to skip the stairs after dark. Great value for money!

The owner was kind and helpful, and ready with recommendations. There's a terrace overlooking the town and sea, and it's a very good-quality place to stay for a couple of days.

The apartment was tidy and clean, with a small balcony where we could sit in the morning sun. Mauricio was a great host and gave us lots of tips for the area. It's well placed for walking around and exploring the city, with restaurants and bars nearby.
