Veranda Hotel

The payment and booking process was the stressful part, and I definitely wouldn’t stay here again. We had booked and paid by card through a secure online portal, but then the hotel repeatedly asked us to send our card details separately on a PDF form that was for a spa, not the hotel. They warned that our reservation would be cancelled if we didn’t. We contacted them several times to make sure the booking would stay in place without sending our details to what seemed like an unrelated business. On arrival, they placed two holds on our card for the full stay and added several charges. We did get a room in the end, and were charged for only one stay, but the whole process was far too complicated and stressful. The room was okay, nothing special, and had a slight smell. The bathroom light was connected to a bedroom light, so turning it on at night woke the other person in the room. That was really annoying when one of us needed to use the bathroom while the other was asleep.

The room was on the small side, but it was still okay. I liked being near the beach in a safe neighborhood with lots of restaurants and cafes. The breakfast was exactly the same every morning, so it got boring after more than two days. Also, the room’s lights share a master switch: turning on the bathroom light also lights up the room, which is a pain if you get up at night and wake your roommate.

There were several frustrating room issues. It had a strong damp smell, and the shower took 10 to 15 minutes to heat up. At night, switching on the bathroom light also lit the whole room and woke the other person. We’d already paid online, but the hotel kept asking us to resend our credit card details by email and PDF, and warned they would cancel the booking. I had to call several times to keep the reservation. This hotel could be great, but we had these problems.

The room was really comfortable, and the hotel is in a great spot. It has a warm, friendly atmosphere.
