I stayed in February 2018 and would come back. The price was good for Yaounde, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included: bread, omelette, butter, jam, fruit, tea or coffee. I asked for tomato and onion in my omelette and paid $1 extra, which was fine. I was out most of the time, so I only ate at the restaurant at breakfast. The location is good, within walking distance of the centreville. There are two buildings: rooms in the new one cost twice as much as in the front building, where I stayed. My room was quite old but had everything I needed, including AC, hot water and a TV. There’s no elevator in the front building, but staff will help with luggage. The new building does have one.

I booked and paid in full for two rooms at Hotel Girafe in Yaoundé through hotels.com for June 25, 2022. At the property, they told me there was no reservation under my name and said the hotel couldn’t take online bookings. I showed them the reservation numbers and emails from hotels.com, but they still claimed to have no online presence. I lost both rooms and the money I’d paid for them, then had to find another room and pay again on the spot. How can the hotel be listed on hotels.com and say it doesn’t know about online listings or accept online bookings? This is unacceptable. hotels.com should check the hotels it lists.

I had a peaceful stay and loved it here. The Banquet Hall is huge and beautiful. Sanza bar and night club is close by if you’re looking for grilled meat or chicken. I’d definitely recommend giraffe for a low-budget trip to Yaounde.

The scenery is amazing, and the hotel is beautiful. There’s also a laid-back rooftop bar that’s great for an evening with friends, with good music and a nice vibe. Highly recommended.
