DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Anshun

I really liked the lake view from the room. Across the road there's a big park and lake where you can walk, run, or take a boat. The hotel's pool and gym are both very good. The place is in great condition, very clean, and the service feels thoughtful. Its facilities are new, and the front desk, room service, and other staff were kind and willing to help. For meals, Sunny, who speaks English well, and Rita, who doesn't speak English but translates between English and Chinese to help with requests, were especially kind, smart, and cheerful whenever we saw them or needed something. It's among the best hotels in Anshun City. Shops and coffee places are about a 5-7 minute walk away, including the Starbucks we used to visit.

The rooms were comfortable, impressive, and clean. We also enjoyed the buffet dinner, which was great and affordable.

The neighborhood has changed a lot from what used to be a fairly rural town. There's less litter now and a better walking path to the north. The hotel itself is lovely and the service is excellent. Its breakfast had the biggest range of food I've seen at a hotel, and there's a fitness center open 24 hours. The one thing that bothered me was the central air conditioning. It seems to be set in the mid-70s throughout China, which feels a bit warm to me, and changing the thermostat didn't bring cooler air into the room. That's common in hotels in China.

From a room facing the lake, the daytime and nighttime views are fabulous. The hotel is right by the lake in Anshun City, and the room, service, and location were all good. I couldn't find many restaurants or grocery stores within walking distance. That's just a fact, and I'm completely fine with it.
