The room itself might not cost much, but the extras made it feel like they were trying to get as much money as possible out of you. The hotel is isolated, so the only practical food choice was the 27USD buffet, which had poor quality and few options. Wi-Fi was awful even with a VPN, usually working for only 10min a day, and was too unreliable for communication, even by text. The pool is big and pretty, but getting there is a hassle. Buying a swimming cap seemed reasonable, but they also wanted me to buy competitive swimming truck because my own were too baggy. Renting the other sports facilities was very expensive.

Three days ago I went down for breakfast and spotted some beautiful golden-brown potatoes. I was so pleased, picked one up, and brought it to my mouth. Then I realized it was cold, with a strange icy feeling on my lips. The potato was only lukewarm, sliding down my throat, and I was horrified. That ruined my day. I felt my life had no worth, so I climbed to a small, windy perch on the roof. Standing there before ending it all, I wondered how things might have gone differently if they'd just heated those potatoes. I wouldn't be tumbling through the gentle morning breeze.
