The hotel looks out over Beibu Gulf, with Silver Beach and the old town nearby. Gardens give it a quieter feel despite being close to city attractions. I didn't stay overnight, but I went for lunch, swimming, and the gym. Use of the pool and gym is included for overnight guests, or you can pay a daily rate. The gym and pool are part of the hotel's facilities, and there are several places to eat: Shang Palace for Cantonese food, Coffee Garden for an international buffet, and the Pool Bar for drinks and sunset views. There's also an infinity pool, CHI Spa, and a coastline just steps away. Inside, the lobby and rooms have an elegant, comfortable feel, with sea or garden views and modern amenities. The service was smooth from the entrance through check-in, and they even brought our luggage up to the room. The staff were professional and well trained, and the hotel has a good location, Wi-Fi, and breakfast. Our room was spacious, with carpet and a king-size bed. There was a bowl of fruit, toiletries, coffee and tea, plus a fridge with drinks that cost extra. Useful extras included an iron, hair dryer, and hairband. A couple of things felt dated: the bathroom had a 90s look, and the TV still used LED technology. The pillows were only okay and not as comfortable as they used to be. Still, the hotel's reputation for top-notch hospitality and service felt deserved.

The staff are so kind, and the food is wonderful. We had our wedding reception at the shangri-la hotel with 250 people, and there were fireworks before we entered the lobby. The restaurants and staff always go out of their way to help. We come back to see the wait staff, enjoy the food, and meet friends. It’s lovely when the staff know you.

Breakfast had such a wide selection that even the pickiest tastes should find something. The sea view from this well-located hotel is beautiful, and I have no complaints. The room and bathroom were spotless, and the service was excellent. Thank you.

For a business trip to Beihai, this is a nice and conveniently located place, quite close to the beach. It’s one of the few places in the city where people understand English, which matters a lot. The staff are friendly and well behaved.
