The location isn't much of a destination, but an Uber ride to the city center takes about 35 minutes and costs $15. The flexible check-in and check-out worked well for us: our flight landed at 9am, we spent the day exploring Beijing, then checked in at 9pm without any trouble. This was a free transit hotel arranged by Air China. The rooms are roomy and reasonably maintained, though nothing luxurious, and there's a free airport shuttle every hour.

The room was decent, with the basics covered and two bottles of water, and I was happy with the service. At check-in, the receptionist spoke enough English for us to understand each other. The process was fairly quick, though around 10 passengers arrived at the same time. Air China assigned me this complimentary transit hotel. After using the 24 hour visa exemption and passing immigration, I found the information booth and the Air China transit service counter beside it. I showed my passport and boarding pass, then checked my name on their list. We waited about 20 minutes for a minivan or small bus, and the drive to the hotel took roughly 15 minutes. Before heading to your room, tell the hotel what time you need to leave. The bus runs every hour, 24/7, and you should be at reception 10 minutes before it departs. For a night or early morning flight, I recommend leaving around 2 hours before departure if you already have your boarding pass. Be sure to specify which terminal you're using.

The bed was comfortable and clean, and our room was spacious, with towels, shower gel and a toothbrush provided. It was clearly dated, though, and the bathroom had some limescale. In December the room wasn't preheated, so it took a few hours to get comfortable. On our second stay there was only lukewarm water, no hot water. We stayed twice in December 2025 during layovers, after long flights. Air China arranged the transportation, and having a free place to rest was a relief. The hotel itself is old and worn, in an industrial suburban area. Reception staff were friendly and welcoming, and spoke enough English to communicate, even if not perfectly. We didn't try the breakfast or restaurant. Despite the drawbacks, it worked well for a layover and we appreciated getting some rest between flights.

For one night, this was wonderful. The rooms aren't new, but the hotel is free for transit passengers, and I don't see much to complain about when you're not being forced to stay or pay. The staff speak a little English and know the routine. I handed over my passport, said when I wanted to be picked up for my connecting flight, and had my room key in under five minutes.

The free shuttle is a plus, though we potentially waited over 30 minutes at the airport before it left. Staff at check-in weren't unfriendly, but they didn't make us feel especially welcome. The hotel works for a short stop, but overall it feels run down and falls short in a lot of ways. We were traveling with four children under ten and had asked for interconnecting rooms, but the request couldn't be accommodated. There was no travel cot for our baby, so this isn't suitable for young families unless you co-sleep. Our reserved double beds turned out to be king single beds, meaning we had to share, and they were extremely hard. When you're exhausted, you'll sleep anyway. The room was freezing when we arrived. We adjusted the temperature in both rooms, but couldn't get it above 19 degrees, with the outside temperature at minus 12 degrees. The bathroom had visible black mould in the shower, no towel hooks or rails, and no hair conditioner. There was no fridge or basic place to keep food and drinks. Wi-Fi was basically non-functional throughout our stay. Google, Facebook and similar services are banned in China. All signs and room information were in Chinese, which was difficult for an international hotel and especially for guests who rely on English. The downstairs restaurant mainly serves hot pot style meals, which won't suit every international traveler, especially children. We didn't find an email contact for the hotel, so we couldn't ask questions before arriving. It would have helped to know about the lack of a travel cot in advance. For an Air China hotel serving so many international passengers, I expected stronger English from reception and better support for travelers from around the world. Next time we'd rather pay for a true international hotel with more comfort and services geared to international guests.
