We showed our reservation number, but that didn’t help. They said our names weren’t in the system and the hostel was full, even as more guests kept checking out. We offered to take three beds in separate rooms if the room type we booked wasn’t available, but they weren’t interested. From the moment we reached the door, the staff questioned us in a hostile, judgmental way, asking, “What are you doing here?” We weren’t let in at all. Booking here seemed pointless.

They said our reservation wasn’t showing up, then offered to show us beds after first questioning whether we were really the people we said we were. The room was upstairs and about the size of a bathroom. It was impossible to sleep there. One of the worst hostel experiences I’ve had.

Meituan charges 80 a night for a four-person room. The hotel itself is quite good.
