Beijing Shidu Banshan Hidden Suites

The empty pool was the biggest disappointment. The photos suggested it would be available, and since we stayed in summer 2024, I don’t think it was a seasonal closure. Breakfast was unexpectedly poor too, just plain buns and cabbage, which felt like very little even for a small village. The owners, though, were warm and helpful. When we couldn’t manage the treacherous road up to the villa, they carried our suitcases as we hiked. I should have guessed from the name that the spot was secluded, but I still had trouble finding it at first. Inside and out, the villa itself is beautiful, with three roomy bedrooms and three bathrooms. The master has a huge bathroom, giant tub, and big walk-in shower. The setting is a mix of lovely mountains and rundown buildings with construction underway. You could probably get some great Instagram photos here, but I’ll try somewhere else next time.
