My parents arrived first and were put in a room with a really strong smell, as if the carpet had just been washed. It was uncomfortable, so they eventually changed rooms. Later, our kid put used underwear and socks in a paper bag beside a nightstand, well away from the bin. While we were out touring, housekeeping cleaned the room and the entire bag went missing. We told reception right away. They looked for it but couldn’t find it. We waited another three days and got an apology from reception, but no compensation at all. Not a good experience.

The front desk provided excellent service, and my room was one of the best of my trip: roomy and clean. The hotel is right in the central shopping district, where the visible police presence and strong security made me feel safe. This was my first visit to Beijing, but I’ll definitely stay here again.

Rooms were hard to come by during the Two Sessions. Given the telecom contract rate, though, I thought this place was fairly good value.

Pretty good for a Beijing hotel, though you’ll need to know at least a little Chinese. Also, remember the 300 yuan deposit!

The breakfast had a great mix, from truffle noodles and Japanese dishes to very good coffee, so there was plenty to choose from. Rooms are spacious, and the price felt like a bargain for the quality. It’s right by the metro, and the reception team spoke English and was always willing to help. A terrific hotel.
