City Hotel Beijing 北京城市宾馆

Sanlitun worked well for the shopping and places to eat, and chao was a good spot to rest after our busy 7-day trip in Shanxi before flying out of China. We only stayed one night, but appreciated the quiet, comfortable bed, clean room, and attentive service.

Breakfast had both eastern and western choices, and I tried one of the local dishes. It was good. The hotel itself has a modern, artsy feel, with a dark, moody look.

The room was clean and quiet, and the staff were really helpful. The location near the south village is convenient, too. Breakfast was a highlight, with daily dim sum and three menus to pick from: Asian, Western, or nourishing. I especially liked the scrambled eggs and Beijing pancake.

I’m glad I followed a friend’s tip and stayed here. The rooms are spacious, and the adjoining-room setup is handy if you’re travelling with kids. Breakfast was excellent, and the hotel is in a lovely, quieter part of central Beijing. It’s a nice small place, especially compared with the huge hotels on Wangfujing.
