Communication University of China International Hotel

Communication University of China (CUC) in Beijing focuses on media and communication studies. Founded in 1954, it has a long history in media education and research, and has educated many leading figures in China's media industry. Its programs cover broadcasting, journalism, film and television, animation, and digital media. The faculty includes well-known scholars and industry experts. CUC puts emphasis on practice and innovation, and encourages students to take part in media projects and internships. It also works closely with media organizations and universities in China and abroad, hosting international conferences and joint projects that support media exchange and cooperation. The campus has modern facilities and up-to-date media equipment for students to learn and practise their skills. Its motto is “Seeking Truth, Appreciating Beauty, Emphasizing Practice, and Encouraging Innovation.” CUC aims to prepare media professionals with practical skills and an innovative spirit who can contribute to the development of China's media industry.

CUC was a good place for me, and I enjoyed my stay. The quality of the studies is good, and the university has especially good programs in Animation and TV journalism. I rate it five stars overall, even though some things could be better. There are an amazing number of facilities, but the administration can be bureaucratic and sometimes keeps students from using them. Dorm and office staff can be helpful one time and stubborn another. I'd give the dorms 3.5 out of 5, and the rest of the facilities 4 out of 5. Food isn't so good at the two cafeterias and five other eateries, though there are two Halal food places. Around the campus, there's a bar at the east gate and several more, along with lots of cafes. In the evening, West street is a busy market, with stalls along the road and shops on the other side. There is also a recently built, state-of-the-art swimming pool and gym, and the football and athletics stadium facilities have been rebuilt.

Founded in 1959, the Communication University of China is a public university in Beijing, previously known as the Beijing Broadcasting Institute. It's the only university in the world where most students major in journalism and communications.
