Forte International Apartment Hotel - Beijing

The location worked really well for visiting Beijing's classic sights, and the whole complex had air conditioning, which matters when summer temperatures can sometimes top 40°C. It seems to house plenty of long-term residents as well as tourists. In the large building, we were pretty much the only foreigners. Our first offered room looked unfinished, with tools and a loose shower curtain left in the bathroom, plus ceiling water stains, mould, and cracks. We turned it down and took a second room, though that one was extremely dirty. Dust covered the closets and surfaces, and there was even a lollipop stuck behind a nightstand. The apartment was largely unfurnished. I expected basic things like dishes and cutlery in a rental. For more than €80 a night, the price felt out of proportion. The beds were very hard, but that may just be a Chinese preference and didn't affect my rating.

The Wi-Fi is no use at all, so if you need it for work or anything else, think carefully before booking. Not worth it.
