Gitigo Hotel Beijing Tian Anmen Square

The location is a big plus. My room was noisy because of other guests, but when I mentioned it, they happily moved me to an upgraded room.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and their English was very good. We enjoyed our three-day stay at this hi-tech hotel with its robot assistant, right in the heart of traditional Beijing. Zhuzikou gate A station is just a step away, and Qianmen station isn't far either.

We spent 8 days here and had a good stay. The free dumplings at supper from 10pm were a nice touch, and there’s a water dispenser where you can add red dates. It’s in a convenient spot at qianmen, just a short walk from the metro.

The location is handy, just a stone's throw from the subway, but popular restaurants and shops weren't within walking distance for us. With Beijing traffic, that mattered. For a short trip focused on shopping, I'd pay more to stay closer to WangFuJing. Our duplex room was extremely dirty. There were stains on the walls, dust balls in every corner, small flies everywhere and lots of mosquitoes. The bathrooms smelled musty, which made the sewage seem like it might be a problem. When I raised this with the receptionist, he tried to explain the dirt by saying the design was black. That didn't account for the dust. He blamed the insects on peak summer, but we got more mosquito bites at the hotel than at the zoo or the Great Wall of china. I found the experience quite traumatising and didn't take photos. I insisted on moving rooms. The receptionist was kind about arranging it, though the family room was a downgrade and still had some dust balls. It was much smaller, but cleaner than the duplex. Cigarette smell was everywhere in the hotel throughout our stay. If cleanliness and cigarette smoke matter a lot to you, I'd skip this place.
