Hampton by Hilton Beijing Fangshan Hotel

The air conditioning in my room didn't work. I reported it, but the staff just changed the settings, which I'd already tried myself. When it kept failing, I called reception again and was rudely told to turn it off and open the window. Paying for a comfortable stay and getting that response was unacceptable. The poor service and lack of professionalism ruined the experience.

The front desk staff were friendly, though I didn't see anyone there who spoke English. An official hotel WeChat contact with translation would have let me make requests directly, instead of calling from my room. Breakfast was laid out neatly each morning, but there weren't enough tables, so late arrivals had to eat at the bar. The hotel seems to host mostly group travelers, and the industrial area gets quiet early because the shops close in the evening. There is a small convenience store across the road, and app orders can be delivered to your room by the front desk using a mobile device. Getting to downtown Beijing takes about an hour and a half. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you're with a group or have a private car, so make sure to think about the location and public transport.

The breakfast was really tasty, and the room was clean with good water pressure. There's not much nearby, though a convenience store is across the street.
