I wouldn't recommend Jinjiang Inn (Beijing Changchun Street) after what happened. The first check-in took over half an hour, with a string of uncomfortable questions about where I was from, why I had come to Beijing, and what I planned to do. It felt like far too much for checking into a hotel. Later, when I was trying to rest in the room, a front desk employee showed up with two police officers. They took our passports, tickets, and phone numbers, then questioned us for around 20 more minutes about our activities. The whole thing was upsetting and stressful, and left me feeling neither respected nor comfortable as a guest.

The location is the main draw, with the subway under a 10-minute walk away. Rooms are a reasonable size, and the Jinjiang Inn setup feels a little more upscale than 7 Days Inn. Nearby food is limited, but there's a McDonald's by Changchun Street subway station, so breakfast at the hotel isn't necessary. Prices aren't the most competitive around, though the location may make it worth considering.
