It’s a very convenient hotel for calling a taxi, since it’s right beside the main road. The staff are helpful, and there’s a laundromat on the top floor along with a recreation area where you can relax. The Forbidden Palace is within walking distance, and the Metro Station is very close. There are lots of restaurants nearby, the walking street isn’t far away, and a pharmacy is about 300 m from the hotel.

The receptionist was really nice and always ready to help. The Forbidden City is a 10 minute walk away, and there’s a halal Beijing roast duck restaurant nearby. I can’t think of anything I disliked about this hotel, and I’d consider staying here again on my next visit.

We stayed for three nights in the duck room, a very cute family room for three adults that we booked through Trip .com for around 400 pounds a night. The east gate of the Forbidden City is about a 10 minute walk away, and it was easy to get a Didi e-hailing car. There are plenty of halal food options nearby, including Old Beijing hotpot and the halal Peking duck restaurant Zi Guang Nian. The toilet was great and had a bidet, which made it very suitable for Muslim travellers. You can rent bicycles in front of the hotel using Alipay. It’s also a good place if you have a child, since there’s a tent and a play area for kids.
