We picked this place because our schedule was tight and it was just one stop from the station we needed to use to leave the city. The hotel is fairly close to the metro, though that alone doesn't mean much in Beijing. The breakfast buffet was okay, and I could get online, but my Chinese colleague couldn't connect on any of their devices. Staff barely spoke English. By Western standards, this wasn't a good hotel: the rooms were very dated, and the basic bathrooms had spots of mold in the corners and on the shower doors. I wouldn't recommend it to Western travelers expecting much comfort.

It was a handy place to return to while we explored the city during our weeklong stay. The hotel was comfortable, breakfast had both Chinese and Western food, and the Military Museum station made it convenient for reaching the train. The shop closes early, but there are a 7-11 and other convenience stores a little way south for water. No one on staff spoke English, which is fair, and we managed with a phrase book and some patience. I couldn't get the internet working, but our phones were fine, so it wasn't a big issue.

I really liked the breakfast, there was a wide choice and they marked which dishes contained pork so Muslims could avoid them. The hotel is near the main road and a subway station. A few minutes' walk away, there are lots of Chinese restaurants serving Peking duck. There's a garden with sakura right in front of the hotel.
