Mutianyu GreatWall Wangshanyuan Homestay

We stayed one night so we could reach the Great Wall early, around 7:30, and avoid the crowds. That worked out perfectly: we walked right in, saw only a few people on the wall, and got photos without a crowd in the background. The entrance is only about a 10-minute walk away, so there was no need for the shuttle. Our room was huge, and the electronic mahjong table was a blast since we didn't have to set up the tiles ourselves. We had a great stay.

The home was lovely, and the food was delicious. We got to see two different sections of the Great Wall, and when we asked about reaching the one farther away, they drove us there. They were so kind. We had an amazing stay, thank you!

The hosts made us feel so welcome and were always ready to help. We slept incredibly well in the quiet, comfortable room, and the food was delicious. The airport rides made getting between the hotel and airport easy and took away a lot of travel stress. They're optional and cost extra on top of the hotel booking, but I recommend them. We were taken to the Great Wall at 8 a.m. and found it nearly empty, with just five other tourists. We returned to the airport by 11, well ahead of our 1:45 p.m. flight. Mr. Yang picked us up at PKX airport, and his mom served a warm, tasty dinner when we arrived at 10 p.m. They made us feel cared for even that late. Our room was spacious and nicely decorated, with plenty of space for our family of four to rest after traveling from Tokyo. They also served us a complimentary breakfast.
