Nostalgia Hotel（Beijing Yonghe Lama Temple）

The family room is a bit small, but the service is top notch. The hotel is in a Hutong, close to Beixinqiao Subway Station and Yonghegong Subway Station, with many historic sites nearby. I'd recommend booking without breakfast since there are lots of eateries close by.

Breakfast was great, and the staff were polite and helpful, though they only speak Chinese. The rooms were nice and clean, with free bottled water replenished daily. For finding the hotel on Google Maps, search the exact address, 46 fangjia hutong. The courtyard entrance is about halfway along the street, and once you know that, it’s easy to reach. It’s close to the airport line’s final stop.

The area has a lively feel but is still quiet, and Lama and Confucius Temple are nearby. Metro lines 2 and 19 are also close. The staff were kind and helpful, and the room was pleasant, with fresh sheets and towels every day.

The staff were lovely, especially the housekeeping team, who left me little gifts and friendly notes. Reception staff didn’t understand much English, but they managed with what they had. Breakfast was tasty, though the choice was limited. It was fairly cheap, but you have to pay cash straight away. The room was spacious, with old-school stylish decor, wooden furniture and a solid bed. The glass bathroom had all the basics and plenty of toiletries, including shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes and toothpaste. A bamboo curtain can screen it from the windows and bedside, but it doesn’t fully enclose it, so keep that in mind if sharing the room. The location is central, with little shops and bars around and several subway stations about a 10-minute walk away. The Wi-Fi was very slow and kept dropping out. Maybe my room was farthest away, or maybe it was the Great Firewall of China. I’d definitely recommend staying here.
