We booked almost six months ahead, around May or June 2017, for a week at the end of December. Then, only ten days before we were due to arrive in Beijing, they cancelled, saying it was because of a “government security check.” They offered another hotel, but after looking into it we decided it wasn’t somewhere we wanted to stay. That left us scrambling to find a new place less than ten days before leaving Australia. It caused a lot of avoidable stress, and prices were sky high by then. Why advertise on foreign websites if you can’t host foreigners? And if you knew there might be a problem, why not tell us much earlier? We’d booked nearly half a year in advance. Cancelling so close to check-in was extremely unprofessional and irresponsible. I won’t consider staying here again, and I’ll warn my family and friends to be careful about booking it.
