Pullman Beijing South

I was visiting a factory in the industrial area, so the hotel's location in South Beijing worked well for me. It's a large property with many rooms, and the breakfast spread was good. My room had plenty of space and the basics I needed, including a hot water kettle and a desk. The gym is good and well equipped, but it's a partnership facility open from 7 am to 10 pm. Since I had to leave by 7:30 am, I couldn't use it every day. The main drawback was the Wi-Fi, which was unstable and too slow for downloading large files. Still, I had a happy stay, and all the staff provided good service.

The restaurant is a strong point: it's large and buffet-focused, with international food and à la carte dishes that tasted great. This is a good, reasonably priced option in southern Beijing near the industrial district. The hotel itself is huge, with plenty of rooms, and prices can be fantastic in the right season.

This feels like an older, business-focused hotel. It's clean, including the bathroom, and both check-in and check-out were quick and smooth. The reception area is spacious and well kept. Rooms are large but a bit worn, with old toilet fittings and a bathroom smaller than those in other established hotel brands. The work area in the room wasn't impressive, more like a three-star hotel. Breakfast was fine, with a middle-of-the-road selection. The hotel is about 15-17 km south of Beijing's CBD, so it mainly suits business trips if your office is nearby. There's a good Italian restaurant across the street and a Sichuan place about a 10-minute walk away, but not much to do in the area in the evening. A train station is also a 10-minute walk. Staff are helpful, though their English is limited. I paid 800 Yuan a night including breakfast, which felt pricey for the rooms and facilities.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and there's a buffet restaurant with plenty of food, though nothing stood out. A plus is the beer brewed in the hotel's own microbrewery. The rooms have Chinese-standard equipment, but they're old, and the carpet was very dirty and smelly. Definitely not a five-star stay.
