Ramada Beijing North

I joined my son on his school trip as a parent, and he thought the hotel was great. The beds were comfortable and there were lots of TV channels. The shower room flooded easily, but that was okay.

The staff were friendly, and there’s free self-service laundry, plus a free gym and pool next door. I really liked the dinner restaurant’s Sichuan food. I’ve lived in Sichuan, so I can vouch for how good it was. Breakfast was also very good, with Chinese options and some western food. It’s a nice executive-style hotel, though a long way from central Beijing, so it wasn’t a good base for sightseeing.

Getting into central Beijing took 1 to 1.5 hours by car, so we lost a lot of time in didi or on the bus. The subway wasn’t close enough to walk to, so we took didi first. The room was very good quality, room service was very good, and the restaurant had excellent Sichuan food at reasonable prices. It was comfortable inside despite the 30-degree heat outside, and our room did have air conditioning switched on. The Chinese government decides when AC can be used, so that’s not up to the hotel and shouldn’t affect its star rating, as one person’s review suggested.

A complete disaster. None of the room air conditioners worked. They said it was winter and had shut off the AC, but it was so hot inside that I had to ask them to bring a fan. My key kept demagnetizing, and I had to go downstairs three times to get it re-keyed. The bathroom lights didn’t work either. Worst Wyndham property in China. I don’t know how they got a Ramada flag. Even local Chinese hotels are much better.
