Rejoice By Argyle International Hotel (Beijing South Railway Station Temple of Heaven Branch)

The amenities were plentiful and well kept, and the public spaces, including the gym and breakfast area, looked super fancy. Breakfast had a great variety, the staff were friendly, and the hotel is close to lots of tourist attractions. The room was another story. It was cold in late autumn because the heater didn’t work, though they brought us an old radiator. The rooms are really old, and the wood on my door and closet was chipped. The air conditioning was horrible and left the room extremely dry, worse than the two other hotels I stayed at during those two weeks.

The Great Wall tour left early to beat the crowds, which I appreciated. On the return, though, we were taken without warning to a tea sales presentation that lasted nearly an hour. It was interesting, but felt like an unnecessary detour given our limited time, and the delay meant we hit heavy traffic on the way back. The hotel was spacious and nicely designed, with a generous breakfast buffet and comfortable rooms. Mine wasn’t especially large, but had everything I needed. The gym equipment wasn’t the newest, though the space was well maintained and had what I needed for a good workout. There are restaurants and grocery shops nearby, but the hotel is far from the main attractions and metro stations. Our large group had a smooth check-in, and the welcome was warm and efficient. They offered us a Great Wall tour right away, which made planning easy. The airport transfer was helpful too: the driver came all the way to the exit to guide us to the bus, especially useful for anyone unfamiliar with the airport. Front desk staff were attentive. When I accidentally left my passport behind, they quickly brought it straight to my room. Whenever I passed through the lobby, someone was ready to help, and the staff made a real effort to communicate in English and make sure we had what we needed. The pigeons flying off from a neighboring apartment building every day are something I’ll miss. I’d definitely book here again. The rooms are spacious, with pleasant views on a clear day, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Cleaning staff did a wonderful job, and the buffet breakfasts were excellent. There’s a small gym and swimming pool too. It’s about a 10 minute walk to Puhuangyu subway station, with lots of supermarkets and places to eat nearby. It’s not a brand new hotel, but it’s clean, comfortable, and reasonably priced. I do wish the front desk staff spoke English more fluently, though they get by using their own translation devices.

James liu was courteous and helped us get a good room and breakfast. We stayed for 3 days and also received a few complimentary services. I'd be happy to come back.
