Renaissance Beijing Capital Hotel

The room was large, modern, and spacious, and breakfast had a lovely spread. The freshly squeezed juicing corner was a fantastic idea. The location is great, away from the busy tourist areas but surrounded by good restaurants, and about 15 minutes from higher-end dining spots such as Zhengda Center. When our flight was cancelled, we had to give up the first night. They thankfully didn’t charge us, which we appreciated. They couldn’t offer early check-in after that, which seemed fair, so we waited about an hour. As a Bonvoy Platinum Elite member, I got a larger room, though not a suite. The lounge was disappointing: while it was being renovated, guests were put in a makeshift space that felt poor. The evening food and drinks were especially underwhelming. The food looked and tasted like leftovers, the vegetables were too soft and yellow, and drink choices were very limited. Honestly, the lounge is skippable. The value is okay, but the lounge needs work.

We’ve stayed at Marriott properties across the country and internationally for more than twenty years, and this has been one of the best in every respect. Gary and Michael in Concierge deserve special thanks for going above and beyond to help us. They made our stay pleasant. We recommend Renaissance Beijing Capital Hotel as a place to stay in Beijing.

I checked in today, and the hotel is crowded, so check-in took a long time. I also ordered food that sat outside for 30 minutes. I called the front desk twice, and both times they said they’d bring it up right away, but when I called again nobody knew what I meant. No one seemed to speak English, which is shocking for a hotel of this caliber. Almost every hotel in China has a robot that brings deliveries to your room, but this one doesn’t. Calls to the front desk got transferred three times, and nobody spoke English, understood the issue, or had a solution. If I’d expected this kind of service, I could have stayed somewhere cheaper.

I’ve stayed here regularly on business trips and have had good service, with responsive help, especially with Bonvoy status. A good hotel if you need a mariott in Beijing.
