The location was great, and luckily I found a halal restaurant nearby. They also offered a trip, so I booked their one-day Great Wall tour. It was amazing and not pricey. The hotel is old but clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful, and let us check in early in the morning, at about 2 AM, I think.

The rooms were clean and roomy, with comfortable beds and good showers, and the food tasted nice even though it cost extra. But there were bed bugs in my bed on the first night. WiFi was painfully slow, and the TV picture was fuzzy. Staff communication was difficult because their English was limited. The restaurant staff couldn't explain the menu items, one receptionist often seemed unsure what he was doing, and I found the Great Wall tour guide very hard to understand and not helpful.

It's easy to find even if you don't speak Chinese, and the city center location is quiet. The next subway stop takes a bit of walking to reach. People were nice, and the food and beer, including during happy hours, were good and reasonably priced. It's a nice, inexpensive hotel. Download an offline map before you go. Google services don't work in China, even on WiFi.

I stayed for two nights and had a really good time. The place is inexpensive and close to temple of heaven. Little Fan came to my rescue when I couldn't figure out how to get a tour to the Great Wall of China at Mutianyu, and he also invited me to a Chinese restaurant with great food. The staff were great, and I hope to stay there again soon.
