Rong Hotel Close to Shichahai Scenic Area and Nanluogu Lane

The courtyard is a nice touch, and it was silent at night. There was room to do laundry, and I slept beautifully before spending my days exploring. Set in the hutongs, it's an easy walk in either direction to cafe streets, the bell and drum tower, waterways, restaurants, and lots of bars. The rooms were among the cleanest and nicest we had in China. No musty smell, fresh crisp linen, opening windows, and working aircon and heating. They're basic, but have what you need to be comfortable, with modern styling that still reflects the culture. Staff don't speak English, but they were warm and welcoming and used a translate app.
