Taiyue Heights

The room itself was nice enough, but losing my laundry soured the whole stay. I handed in washing, including some really expensive Italian shirts, and they must have misplaced it somehow. In the end they insisted I hadn't given them any laundry at all. They lost about 2000 RMB worth of my clothes, and I also paid another 1350 RMB for three nights. Staff at the front desk could speak English on some shifts, but on others nobody could. That made simple requests, like asking about the washing or getting a taxi, feel like having to be Marcel Marceau. The staff scheduling was mind-boggling. If I'd known, I would have stayed at a better hotel, like The Intercontinental just down the road. Avoid. Dodgy.

The location worked well, close to metro lines 6 and 10 and just a few minutes' walk from the Sanlitun shopping and nightlife area. My room was spacious, comfortable, and clean. Breakfast was very Chinese and the same every day. Staff spoke little English. Two of the guys were especially unfriendly, while the others were kind.

The air conditioning in my room didn’t work at all, and the hotel couldn’t fix it. The service was awful. I won’t be coming back.

The surroundings are pleasant, with hotels and rental apartments nearby. From here, you also get a beautiful view in the direction of the Conrad Hotel.
