Tangfu Hotel Sanlitun Gongti Branch

I stayed in September 2025, and the online photos make the place look much better than it does now. It feels run-down and cramped, with little or no city view, and the lobby is messy with almost nowhere to sit. The dining room is in a windowless basement. Breakfast has very few Western choices, and the cleaning wasn’t up to standard. We chose it for the location, but Sanlitun was at least a 15-minute walk away.

The staff were the best part, especially Lucy at the front desk. I needed a power bank, and she ordered one from her own phone; it arrived at the hotel an hour later. Everyone was ready to help and answer questions, and the laundry service was handy too. The hotel sits among the HuTong shops in a central spot, and it’s built well enough that the nearby crowds didn’t make it noisy. One of my favorite places we stayed in China. Thank you!

The location is great, and there’s a bar inside the hotel serving food late into the night. The room’s mix of traditional and modern design looks a little unusual, but it’s fine. Reception staff don’t speak English, though they have good translation tools and were eager to help. You can take free tea or coffee from near reception, and they leave complimentary bottled water each day.

We were a family of four and stayed for four nights. Our room was clean, with comfortable beds and a special toilet. It was quiet at the back, though there was no view. Shops, malls, restaurants, and the subway are all within walking distance, and the staff were friendly and helpful with a good translation app. Breakfast was good, but there was a sewer smell in the restaurant. Hopefully that was temporary. Otherwise, I’d recommend it.
