The Westin Beijing Chaoyang

The location, lobby and staff were all lovely, and the team helped right away with a translator when their English was limited. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with the usual bathroom amenities, bath salts for the tub, and a rubber shower mat to prevent slipping. My only disappointment was that the Bonvoy rewards weren’t honored: there was no welcome amenity or upgrade. Even so, I’d highly recommend the hotel.

The housekeeping was outstanding. They cleaned quickly and left plenty of water and toiletries, and after I went for a walk, I came back to find everything spotless again. My wife and I stayed at the Westin Beijing Chaoyang from April 10 to April 14, 2025, checking in at 7:30 PM on our first day in Beijing. When we asked the second-floor breakfast restaurant reception staff and the people outside the front door for nearby late dinner suggestions, they had nothing to offer and were rather cold about it. We were disappointed. We both worked at the Westin in Singapore in 1986 and remember orientation stressing that “people make a difference” in hospitality. It was surprising to see service at the Westin diminish to the point that it no longer seems to prioritize guests’ needs.

There’s a full floor devoted to wellness and fitness, with a wide range of machines, and Sanlitun is just a short taxi ride away. The lobby made a striking first impression, spacious and modern luxury. Our room was spacious too, with a great bathroom and good-quality amenities and toiletries. I’d recommend it for either business or leisure.

The reception responded very quickly to my messages through the Marriott Bonvoy app. Housekeeping was prompt, the food was nice, and the room was clean with good linens. It had a telephone, TV, mini fridge, ironing table, safe locker, slippers and hot water kettle, along with other good amenities. I liked the view of the road and Beijing skyline from my room. The only thing I didn’t care for was the somewhat dim lighting, which may be intended to save energy. A very good hotel, with nice rooms and bathrooms.
