Vision Hotel

The location is pretty ordinary, and there aren’t many food options nearby. Still, it’s just a short walk to the subway, which makes getting around the city easy. The rooms were clean and spacious, though the toilet was unusable. Breakfast had a wide range of choices, and the sauna was a highlight. The gym was among the best equipped I’ve seen, but it doesn’t open until 7am, making a morning workout hard to fit in. I had an excellent stay at the Vision Hotel.

I stayed here twice, in the summer of 2018 and again in the summer of 2019. I left with a very bad impression of this hotel. The management felt messy, and the service came across as unprofessional and impolite. During my first stay, I had already paid and only needed proof that I’d stayed there for those four days for a visa. Other hotels handled that easily, but they kept delaying it. The manager spoke to me very rudely, as if being a manager made him better than everyone else. At 2am, staff were cleaning or doing something in the room next door, and the cleaners slammed the door hard. It didn’t seem like they’d been trained well. When I checked out after paying all the fees, they claimed a bottle of Coca cola was missing and charged me 60 dollars for it, even though a bottle costs no more than 5 dollars in a store. One manager was very kind, apologized for what happened, and upgraded my room. But when I moved in, it smelled strongly of smoke.

I’ve stayed here a few times. The location is a little outside the central area, but Xitucheng metro is only a 2 or 3 minute walk away. Googlemaps has the wrong location listed, so look up vision mansion for the right coordinates. The rooms are spacious and clean, though they smell as if people have smoked in them despite the signs. The gym is pretty good, and there’s a pool I didn’t try. The WiFi is awful, flaky and inconsistent. An ethernet port on your laptop will likely work better. The cafe, which is also where breakfast is served, had poor food. There’s another restaurant that’s much tastier, but pricier. Breakfast offers lots of items, though the selection is almost the same every day. For a hotel that calls itself five-star and caters to business guests, the front desk staff’s English was below par, and they were generally rude and dismissive. The concierge and restaurant staff were also limited in English, but were incredibly helpful and accommodating.

The rooms were very nice, but the stay was average. Check-out went perfectly, while check-in was difficult because the staff didn’t speak English and became irritated. The person who brought food to my room also left without returning the change they owed me. I ended my stay early.
