Waldorf Astoria Beijing Hotel

The Concierge team did a great job arranging tickets for scenic spots ahead of time, and the in-room escorted check-in was comfortable. They also added me on WeChat for quick help. The hotel manager was around each day at breakfast talking with guests, which was a plus. For the location and brand, I’d recommend it for a short stay. This branded hotel is 11 years old and in a good location, but it’s showing signs that it needs an upgrade. I rarely see an exposed TP -Link router with messy wires beneath an open table. In a premier room, having to walk over and switch the day and night curtains is a chore. The room amenities should be more high tech. Breakfast was sumptuous, though F&B should consider different options for guests staying longer.

After nearly five weeks wandering around Asia, I may have found the best service of the trip. I’ve stayed at Raffles, Leela, Oberoi, Four Seasons, and plenty of others. I’ve always been a Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons kind of girl, but after one visit, the Waldorf has me rethinking my usual choices. Athena, the Front Office Manager, sets a high bar. Her attention to detail, courtesy, and thoughtful service are outstanding. Castiel, the Concierge Manager, brought the same customer-focused approach. With those two working together, it’s easy to see how the Waldorf earns loyalty. Thanks to Athena and Castiel, I won’t soon forget my Beijing visit. The Waldorf is now at the top of my luxury hotel favorites, and I’m already looking forward to coming back.

The room was spacious, with a panoramic corner, though some of the furniture and fittings felt dated and the bathroom area had a musty smell. Housekeeping was great, and the concierge service was decent. The location is a real plus, just a stone's throw from Wangfujing Street, with plenty of old and newer shops, malls, and places to eat. The hotel also has two lovely restaurants, Brasserie 1893 and Zijin Mansion.

The concierge team was very helpful, and the rooms felt luxurious. Breakfast was average, though the service was good. Pick a higher floor, and if you get the right side of the building, you can see the Forbidden City from your window. The location is excellent.
