Wanda Realm Beijing

The location was convenient, close to a large mall. The room facilities weren't well maintained, and cleanliness didn't meet what I'd expect from a five-star place.

The room was large and beautiful, and the bathroom was a highlight, with a separate bathtub. The lobby and entrance also made a strong impression, and the staff were very polite. The hotel itself was clean. There were good restaurants nearby, and a great store right across from the hotel that we unfortunately only visited on our last day. The sightseeing areas of Beijing were far away, though, and it took about fifteen minutes to walk to the subway entrance. The pool had been broken for a long time, but guests weren't told, and it didn't seem likely to be repaired. The bathroom faucet was old and broken too. Breakfast was good, but the pastries didn't taste fresh and there wasn't enough bread. Wi-Fi in the room wasn't very good.

The breakfast buffet had plenty of choices, from food and drinks to fruit. Our guest room was huge and clean, with carpeted floors, and a superb bathroom with both a tub and a separate shower cubicle. The lobby was breathtakingly elegant, with five or six large sitting areas where guests could meet local friends, plus a bar. It had a strong classical Chinese atmosphere. I didn't check out the swimming pool, but to me this was definitely a five-star hotel. Highly recommendable!

The staff were friendly, but this was seriously the worst Wanda I've stayed in. The rooms are old and dated, and maintenance is poor. The carpets were very dirty and the toilet wouldn't flush. Water pressure kept shifting, and the shower swung from ice cold to suddenly very hot without me touching it. I've been burned so many times!
