West International Trade Grand Hotel

We had a girls’ college reunion in Beijing last week, and this hotel worked really well for us. It was easy to reach from Daxing airport, Fengtai, or West Railway Station, and the subway station is an easy walk away for trips to tourist spots. The rooms were large compared with most hotels. Three adults could fit in a deluxe twin room with an extra foldable bed, which was comfortable and cost an additional 220 Yuan per night per person. The room was warm and comfortable even though it was still March. We could open the windows, and there was a safe and refrigerator. They provided plenty of free water, so we didn’t use the large bottle that costs 10 yuan. There was also a kettle, several kinds of tea, slippers, towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothbrushes and combs, all supplied generously. We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet, and my classmates were happy with our choice. The front desk staff were efficient and capable, especially the young woman Tong Huan. She quickly checked our IDs, arranged the extra beds, and settled the added charges. She was friendly, proficient and courteous.

Even though we booked a week ahead, the front desk had trouble confirming our room, and it took nearly 45 minutes for us to get it. The staff don’t know English at all. The hotel needs renovation soon.

The public spaces are great, but the hotel feels a bit tired. The room and bathroom need a deep clean. Food was disappointing too, both at breakfast and with the sad dinner options, whether à la carte or buffet.

This hotel wasn’t good. The shower leaked, and the bath towels were dirty and felt like old towels.
