I booked the Vienna Hotel Shouti through an international booking site and received confirmation. After a long international flight, I checked in at 12:30 a.m. About an hour later, staff woke me and said they had checked me in by mistake and that I had to leave my room immediately. They had no other room, so I was told to find another hotel at 2 a.m. The staff were rude and showed no concern for an international guest who was alone in the middle of the night and couldn’t speak Chinese. I usually stay at a different Beijing hotel and have never had trouble there. I’d caution other international travelers about this hotel.

Getting to the Capital Stadium is very convenient. The rest was disappointing: the hotel is old, rooms are small, and some lights don’t work. The location is its main plus. I booked through a Chinese hotel booking site and rated it 8.5 out of 10 after my stay. The front desk called right away and asked me to change the score to 10. Unbelievable.
