Changsha Xiaoxiang Huatian Hotel

For a five-star hotel, I expected service to come with the service charge, and I could accept paying it. But there weren't any staff available to help me, and the service I got was inadequate. The price itself was acceptable. Also, each room used to include two breakfasts when the hotel was rated four stars, but now it includes only one.

The location is handy, right by Yuanjialing subway station, so getting to places like Wuyi Square is easy. The lobby looks impressive, and the first-floor facilities seemed good. My husband was excited that he'd booked a four-star hotel, though we chose the cheapest economy room, hoping it would be a step up from places like 7 Days Inn for around 100 yuan. I only need a room to be clean and quiet, but this one was very worn. The headboard was dirty, there was little black lint all over the sheets and pillowcases, the plastic kettle was broken, and the TV kept flickering. There's a karaoke center downstairs, and the noise went on all night. I couldn't sleep even with the lights off because of all the shouting. The soundproofing was poor, and they shouldn't let karaoke run so late when guests are trying to rest. The hotel looks grand from outside, but it didn't live up to its established four-star reputation.

Breakfast had plenty of choices and tasted good, and the place was clean and tidy. Still, it felt like an old restaurant. The bathroom had only a shower, which was a little inconvenient.

The private rooms on the fourth floor are nicely designed. Food was good too, with Huatian specialties served at the second-floor food street.
