The room stayed stuffy all night. Even with the temperature set to 20 degrees, it never dropped below 22. I’d booked a non-smoking room, but the whole place smelled of cigarettes. You also need a cap to use the pool, which felt ridiculous. At the bar, service was extremely slow, and the walnuts were the bitterest I’ve ever tasted. With influencers taking photos of themselves everywhere, the hotel felt weird.

Breakfast was tasty, especially the noodles, which beat what I’ve had at other chain restaurants. The 23rd-floor lobby has an incredible view, and the balcony and terrace seem made for Instagram. Inside, the IHG Group's latest hotel has a striking, luxurious design that made me feel removed from everyday life as soon as I arrived. Electric blinds, USB and USB-C charging ports, and the bathroom all made the room feel thoughtfully equipped. The Dyson hair dryer was a standout. I know guests at a hotel like this probably don’t need to worry about taking it home, but I liked it enough to want one myself.
