Kaifu Temple has a huge layout, so allow up to about two hours to see it. Entry costs 10 yuan, and there was no queue when I went. They give you a set of joss sticks at the entrance.

You can get a vegetarian lunch here for 10 yuan, or the buffet for 26 yuan. Entry is free for people aged 65 and over; foreigners need to show a passport. The temple is well preserved, with different sections upgraded.

After getting a ticket, you’re given incense to take inside. There are several rooms with statues for blessings, and a statue of the White Guan Im stands near the entrance. Kaifu Temple is known for its blessings.

The lotus pond has pigeons and turtles, and small monk statues line the aisle. Inside, the old buildings and quiet, solemn atmosphere feel peaceful. People gather at the large Guanyin statue to pray for blessings and good luck. Many Chinese visitors also take pictures by the yellow and red walls. Kaifu Temple is one of the important open monasteries in Chinese Buddhism, the Buddhist Zen Linzong Yangqi Temple. It was designated a cultural conservation unit in Hunan Province in 1956. Before entry, visitors are offered three joss sticks for worship. Address: Hunan Province, Changsha, Kaifu District, Kaifu Temple Road, number 52.. Take metro line 1 to Kaifu Temple station and use exit 1. Open 6:30-18:30, with entry stopping at 17:30.
